Led by former Canvas members Andy Sutcliffe and John Sutcliffe, post-metal outfit Humanfly formed in Leeds, England, at the outset of the 21st century. The lineup was rounded out with Matt Dale on bass and David Jones on drums. Musically moved by progressive giants such as Pink Floyd and post-rock luminaries such as Neurosis, Isis, and Mogwai, the group released its first album, God Among Insects, in 2004. Their follow-up, II, was the first for the band to be released outside of the United Kingdom -- on 20 Buck Spin in 2008.
