Settle in for a night of immersive sounds and fresh energy at Strange Brew as an impressive line-up of indie talent takes the stage.
To celebrate independent venue week Velvet Echoes presents - Mild Orange, Luna Lake, Grack Mack and the Pack and Townhouses
Mild Orange, the dream-pop and indie-rock quartet from New Zealand, headline the night with their acclaimed "melting melodies" that blend nostalgia with feel-good vibes. Formed in Dunedin in 2016, Josh Mehrtens, Josh Reid, Tom Kelk, and Jack Ferguson have created a loyal following with their hypnotic soundscapes and hits like “Some Feeling” and “Freak In Me”. With three well-received albums, including their latest release, Looking For Space, Mild Orange will deliver their signature warmth and groove to a new crowd in Bristol.
Luna Lake, with their heartfelt, atmospheric indie sounds, will offer a timeless touch. Known for their evocative self-titled debut LP and the upcoming Always Noticing, frontman Bren Dowling and the band bring tender, hazy melodies that conjure late summer memories. Their storytelling and soul-stirring sound has garnered a cult following that promises a moving live experience.
Also joining the bill is Grack Mack & The Pack. This Bristol-based quartet’s infectious, relatable lyrics and introspective indie-folk/pop blend draw from influences like Clairo and Big Thief. Led by former solo artist Grace Mackenzie, the band turns everyday musings into poignant “melodies of thought,” and their chemistry brings a cathartic yet lively performance.
Townhouses complete the line-up with a punchy mix of motoric beats, psych rock, and shoegaze. Known for their dynamic stage presence, this Bristol outfit covers themes from love to modern-day madness, offering a heavy dose of post-punk and indie energy. Having toured internationally and packed venues across the UK, Townhouses will set the stage ablaze with their infectious grooves.
Join us at Strange Brew on 31st January for an unmissable evening of melodic journeys and genre-defying performances.
