Doing Business Well: On Black business, wellbeing and life beyond work What does it really mean to be doing well in business? As part of Black History Month, join Ella Achola and a panel of Black founders and business owners for an honest conversation about business, ambition, wellbeing and the lives we have beyond our work. We’ll talk about what it really takes to build and lead a business: how our ideas of success change, the pressure to keep going, making space for rest and relationships, giving ourselves grace when things don’t go to plan, and building businesses that fit alongside the lives we actually want to live. Expect a warm, thoughtful conversation about doing business, doing life and what it might mean to do both well — because doing well in business should be about more than the business itself.

PANELISTS

  • Deshaun Hancock (Bloom + Flow)

  • Jade Koroma (Essential Woman)

  • Pamela Abiola (Author, Speaker & Coach)

Host and compere Ella Achola is a writer, speaker and founder of Espresso Press, a new literary non-profit for Black women writers to create and exist on their own terms. Having built, changed direction and started again more than once, she knows a thing or two about pivoting — and about questioning what success is supposed to look like. Her work is increasingly interested in the creative lives we build, both on and off the page.
