Ty and his band were absolutely on fire. The myriad influences that infuse his work were at play. 'First taste' had almost progressive rock/space rock flourishes, whilst Manipulator hammers away with psychedelic goodness. He is so talented and to see him hopping between drums and guitar was awesome. A massive shout out to his vocals as well, surprisingly good, especially on 'first taste'. The band was so tight, played with great technique and immersion. I adore psychedelic music, in fact live for it, and this was amongst some of the most monstrously good psych I've heard at a gig since Wooden Shjips some 5 or 6 years ago. I spent the entirety of the next day avoiding conversation and listening again to the entirety of his works. Amongst the 40-50 gigs I've been to (not that many compared to some, but not bad), I would rank this in the top 5- high praise indeed. My only grumble is people living in the world of the simulacram, by endlessly recording a gig on their phone, whilst not being immersed/lost in the music. Furthermore, how people don't dance and move to such intoxicating music is simply beyond me. A great and memorable gig.

Ty Segall plays First Taste + Manipulator, Oval Space, London - 13th October 2019
Energergising. Life affirming and utterly wonderful. I feel very privileged. Joker was the best film this year and ty segall was the best gig. I was the quiet one at the back. Xxcc

Ty Segall plays First Taste + Melted, Oval Space, London - 11th October 2019
Been waiting for a while to see Ty, the wait was worth it. Traveled up from Wales with my son and would have gone anywhere to see him. Amazing night, performance of "first taste" was insane, the band where excellent and followed by a blockbusting performance of "Melted" . The crowd where on fire and the pitt was ferocious didn't think i could sweat anymore Added bonus of bumping into Dave from Boy Azooga in the crowd Great venue and amazing music.

Isn’t it annoying when you go out for a good chat and someone builds a venue around you and puts on a gig? Oval Space suffers from this more than most, with a bar running the length of the hall. Fortunately anyone trying to compete decibel for decibel with Ty Segall simply couldn’t match the double drums and two bass line up. But there’s a whole lot more than noise going on here. This isn’t a wall of sound, it’s an intricate lattice work of drum rhythms, guitars, keyboards and more besides. A phenomenal performance from the whole band.

Ty Segall and his band are the real deal, rapid doors fusion crazy screamadelica a sweaty cauldron of pumping rock into your veins. Spine tingling at times leaving ears ringing and head thumbing....wouldn’t change it one bit!
