Bananarama, Kelvingrove Bandstand, Glasgow - 10th August 2024
Bananarama are one of the most successful and enduring female pop groups in music history. Formed in London in 1981 by friends Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward, alongside Siobhan Fahey, the trio quickly made their mark with their distinctive blend of dance beats and harmonies.
Their breakthrough came with hits including “Really Saying Something,” “Shy Boy” and “Cruel Summer,” before a string of international chart successes established Bananarama as pop icons. Their biggest global hits include “Venus,” “Love in the First Degree,” “I Heard a Rumour” and “Robert De Niro’s Waiting,” while their music and colourful, playful style helped define the sound and spirit of 1980s pop.
With an extraordinary career spanning more than four decades, Bananarama have continued to evolve while staying true to the fun, energetic spirit that made them famous. They remain one of the most recognisable girl groups of all time, celebrated for their timeless hits, enduring friendship and remarkable contribution to pop music.
