Birdvox are a four-piece Scottish supergroup made up of Sarah Hayes, Inge Thomson, Jenny Sturgeon and Charlotte Printer — all acclaimed artists, composers and multi-instrumentalists in their own right. Blending vocals, synths, accordion, guitars, flute, bass, field recordings and bespoke beats, the band create a vivid, shape-shifting sound that draws on folk, pop and electronica without settling neatly into any one category. Singing in Scots, Shetland dialect, old Norn and English, Birdvox bring together their distinct musical backgrounds to create something bold, immersive and unmistakably their own, built around rich vocal interplay, inventive production and a powerful collective spirit.

Their debut album, Shamming The Drama, is an expansive and emotionally charged record exploring joy, rage, grief, empowerment, connection, peace and the natural world. Produced by Birdvox alongside Peter Brewis of Field Music, it fuses big-sky songwriting with political disco, skewed-folk floor fillers, avian electronica and hymns to humanity, resulting in a record that feels both cathartic and joyfully defiant. Evolving from the acclaimed cross-arts project Northern Flyway, Birdvox have already earned praise for their vibrant live shows at festivals including Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival and Edinburgh Tradfest, and are set to tour the UK in autumn 2026 following the album’s release on Hudson Records.
