Everything was perfect: the venue, Carminho's and the musicians' performance, the combination of more traditional fados with Carminho's new compositions and even Carminho's imperfect English, that she handled with candor and humour.

The atmosphere in the venue was fantastic. Carminho, the musicians and acoustic of the place blow away everyone. The amazing Fado’s singer connects and engages with the audience throughout her music and poetry . If you get the chance, go to see Carminho live as you will be blessed by her incredible stage presence.

Carminho is one of Portugal’s most celebrated fado singers, renowned for her exquisite vocal warmth, emotional depth and a modern sensibility that honours tradition while pushing the genre forward. Born Carmo Rebelo de Andrade into a family of fado musicians, she grew up surrounded by the music’s poetry and saudade — the unmistakable feeling of longing at its heart. Her debut album Fado (2009) became a global success, praised for its purity and honesty, and was followed by acclaimed releases including Alma (2012), Canto (2014) and Maria (2018). Across each record, Carminho blends classic fado with gentle touches of jazz, Brazilian music and contemporary songwriting, all carried by her breathtaking voice and profound interpretative skill.
On stage, Carminho is magnetic: understated yet deeply expressive, capable of filling a room with emotion through the lightest whisper or the most powerful crescendo. She has collaborated with artists such as Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso and Pablo Alborán, bringing fado to new audiences worldwide while staying firmly rooted in its heritage. Her 2023 album Portuguesa reaffirmed her status as one of fado’s finest modern voices — a deeply personal record celebrating identity, tradition and artistry. With her ability to move listeners across languages and borders, Carminho continues to be an extraordinary ambassador for Portuguese music.
