This is a collective of the most talented, gentle, thoughtful, genuine humans with a punk anarchistic bent and a lived experience of trans rights being human rights. Their music is participative, vibrant and the lyrics kick the listener into a genuine connectedness with their lived experiences. From slow lyrical waltzes to jump-around pogoing punk, rap and shouty, we have been avid followers and fans since we first came across Cheap Dirty Horse at Hockley Hustle, along with Gender Envy and Idiocy, all of whom are original and musically creative, talented and hard-working gigging musicians. They have a loyal bunch of lovely groupies who have developed their own responses and dances to the songs, in a post-Rocky-Horroresque way. We think they are all fab!

Cheap Dirty Horse , The Grove, Nottingham - 28th June 2026
Myles Bullen is on tour from the USA. His artistry and messages were backed up with a SERIOUS dollop of talent. You can expect a mix of queer rap, ukelele and showmanship. A personable stage presence, he endeared himself to us and impressed us in equal measure. We would gladly go to see him again. Cheap Dirty Horse are utterly fantastic. A trans rights message underlined with righteous anger expressed skillfully in punk rap folk rant. Don’t be put off by the ‘folk’ bit! No Morrismen around here. Instead, a strong talented bunch of gender fluid, welcoming, kind-hearted merry people who channel their message skilfully and positively. With their new drummer - who is outstandingly good - and rock solid bass player, they have two guitarists, a banjo and an accordian. The songs are great. They have a very loyal following in Nottingham who have invented dances in the crowd to go with their songs. We absolutely LOVE this band and their talent and artistry. If you spot them playing near you, we would strongly urge you to get to see them. We stumbled across them at a Nottingham musical showcase - The Hockley Hussle - on our way home. We gladly missed the last bus to stay and hear the last of their set and walked an hour home afterwards raving about them!
