Unique and unforgettable evening

David Sedaris has a unique take on life. He can move seamlessly from a moment of pathos to one of sidesplitting hilarity. His anecdotes are filled with constant surprises. At times wonderfully bizarre, it was a fantastic laugh out loud evening. The venue was great and although we were in the rear stalls we had a fantastic view. We needed to travel by car and parking was easy in the NCP Theatre car park and the Theatre promo code made it affordable. A truly unique, entertaining and unforgettable evening - Outstanding!

An Evening with David Sedaris, Brighton Dome, Brighton - 13th July 2024

Who would have thought essays could be so funny!

David Sedaris has the ability to deliver the most shocking things in the most hilarious way. Proper laugh out loud stuff, would definitely see him again.

An Evening with David Sedaris, Corn Exchange, Cambridge - 12th July 2024

So clever, so funny.

There is nothing superficial about David’s humour. His knowledge and understanding are profound, meaning he touches each of us. Nevertheless, reduced me to tears of helpless mirth!

An Evening with David Sedaris, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester - 9th July 2024

Darker in time

David has an ability to describe how what I like to think of as sane people feel about things. Perhaps reflecting on our times I felt a darker sense of the world emerged than last time I saw him perform. I was disappointed in the Irish comedian I tried to find him funny or relevant but failed.

An Evening with David Sedaris, Usher Hall, Edinburgh - 10th July 2024

He is just fantastic.

Sound was a bit off in the venue to start with, which affected hearing the accompanying artist. Once David was on stage he delivered his warmth, pensive, humorous and above all insightful observations, in his totally engaging style. Loved the journeys travelled, the book signing jokes and the swing of his well-fitting cassock from behind the lectern.

An Evening with David Sedaris, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester - 9th July 2024

David Sedaris is a master of sardonic wit and personal storytelling, celebrated for his razor-sharp essays and storytelling flair. He first captured attention in 1992 when National Public Radio aired his hilarious essay "Santaland Diaries" chronicling a stint as a Macy’s elf and soon followed it up with his debut collection Barrel Fever (1994). Hits like Naked (1997), Me Talk Pretty One Day (2000, winner of the Thurber Prize), and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (2004) cemented his reputation for blending wit with introspection.

Sedaris hasn’t slowed down. Collections like Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls (2013), Calypso (2018), The Best of Me (2020), and Happy-Go-Lucky (2022) continue to showcase his knack for comic insight and poignant reflection. Beyond the page, he’s a beloved voice on NPR, contributor to The New Yorker, and a bestselling author translated across dozens of languages proving that his brilliant, observational humour has become timeless fuel for the soul.
