Born Molly Emma Elizabeth McCormick on 28 November 1996 in Sheffield, England, Gia Ford began releasing music under that name in 2019 with her mixtape Poster Boy and the EP Murder in the Dark (2020). Her breakthrough came with the debut album Transparent Things (2024), which weaves together stories of outcasts, quiet violence and the hidden lives of the “fringe” characters she finds fascinating.

Ford’s songwriting is intensely visual and literary, drawing from influences as diverse as Kate Bush, Björk, Nick Cave and American folk-psych sounds. She crafts songs about others — “the downtrodden to the downright dangerous” — rather than direct autobiography, allowing her to explore identity, alienation and emotional depth without overt self-exposure. With her sharp lyricism, atmospheric production and an independent spirit that refuses to be predictable, Gia Ford is emerging as one of the UK’s most intriguing voices in modern indie-pop.
