HEALTH are a noise-rock and industrial band from Los Angeles, formed in 2005, consisting of singer-guitarist Jake Duzsik, bassist-producer John Famiglietti and drummer BJ Miller.
The band was born in the heady grime of downtown L.A's noise rock scene, and they rose to prominence with their 2007 remix of "Crimewave" by Crystal Castles, with their self-titled debut album arriving onto the scene a month later.
Described as a 'mind-numbing sonic overload', HEALTH's music is celebrated for being high-octane and atmospheric, incorporating elements of electronic and metal. Their earlier music has a raw, edgy sound, with their later releases providing a more polished, electronic-driven style, featuring distorted sounds and high-energy digital production. However, the haunting, monotone vocals and raw synths remain a constant and distinguishable cornerstone of the band's identity.
HEALTH have many notable accolades, such as opening for industrial pioneers Nine Inch Nails on their Lights In The Sky tour, and by composing the soundtrack for the Rockstar Games video game, Max Payne 3.
