Hear'Say and Liberty X are two of the defining groups of early-2000s British pop, both born from ITV's groundbreaking Popstars — the show that kick-started the UK's reality-TV pop era. Hear'Say arrived as the winners in 2001 and became instant household names, making chart history as the first act to top both the UK singles and albums charts with their debut releases. Their number-one single "Pure and Simple" was the fastest-selling debut single in the UK at the time, followed by a second number one, "The Way to Your Love", and a chart-topping debut album, Popstars (2001).
Liberty X, the show's runners-up, quickly became one of the era's biggest pop forces. Their single "Just a Little" shot to number one and won the 2003 BRIT Award for Best British Single, ranking among the biggest-selling singles of 2002. It was one of eight UK Top Ten hits that also included "Got to Have Your Love" and "Being Nobody", while their debut album Thinking It Over (2002) reached number three. Both groups have remained much-loved live favourites, returning to the stage for a new generation of pop fans.
