Henge, The Corn Exchange, Newport - 20th November 2024
Self-styled extra-terrestrial joymongers HENGE have been delighting audiences across the UK and Europe for over a decade, ever since "landing" in Manchester back in 2015. Famed for spectacular, costume-clad live shows that feel more like interplanetary theatre than a standard gig, the four-piece were crowned Best Live Act at the Independent Festival Awards, and they have built a devoted following through countless tours and festival appearances.
Across four acclaimed albums, HENGE have carved out a sound all of their own, sitting somewhere between rave and prog rock, powered by euphoric synths, thundering drums and a healthy dose of cosmic mischief. Their fourth record, Journey to Voltus B (2025), tells the tale of a distant planet on the brink of discovering nuclear power, with an ingenious vinyl pressing that offers two different endings depending on where the needle drops. Energetic, playful and quietly subversive, HENGE leave audiences amused and uplifted in equal measure, spreading their message of unity, hope and joy wherever they touch down.
