Been to 7 arena tour concerts in the past - was interested to see how this version would work. Last evening the superb musicians and cast produced an amazing performance. Fabulous and would go again in a heartbeat.

Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds, York Barbican, York - 14th October 2026
I thought that the vocals and narration didn’t soar above the music, maybe not loud enough. Also the sound was muddy and I couldn’t understand the spoken word due to this

Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds is a groundbreaking concept album and live spectacular based on H.G. Wells’ classic sci-fi novel. Originally released in (1978), Jeff Wayne’s adaptation combines progressive rock, orchestral composition, and dramatic narration to tell the story of a Martian invasion of Earth. Featuring iconic performances from Richard Burton as the Journalist, Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues on "Forever Autumn," and David Essex on "Brave New World," the album became a huge success, earning multi-platinum status and spawning a dedicated fanbase. Its haunting motif, "The Eve of the War," remains one of the most recognisable pieces of music in rock history.
