Jon Anderson is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the co-founder and long-time lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Yes. Celebrated for his ethereal, high tenor voice and spiritually themed lyrics, Anderson is widely regarded as one of the defining voices of progressive rock.

Anderson co-founded Yes in 1968. During his tenure with the band, they released landmark albums including The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close to the Edge, records that helped shape the sound of 1970s prog with complex compositions, virtuosic musicianship, and expansive concepts. His lyrical themes often explore mysticism, environmentalism, and human consciousness.

Beyond Yes, Anderson has maintained an extensive solo career, beginning with Olias of Sunhillow (1976), a fully self-performed concept album that showcased his ambition and imagination. He has also collaborated with artists such as Vangelis, scoring international hits like “I’ll Find My Way Home” and “State of Independence.”

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Yes in 2017, Jon Anderson remains an influential and enduring figure in progressive music, known for his visionary artistry and unmistakable voice.
