Fantastic performance once again by Meryl Streek

Last night was a real treat. Went to see one of our favourites, Meryl Streek. And left with a new band that we loved, Peer Pleasure! Ramona Marx kicked it off and set the atmosphere. The Castle is a great venue.

Meryl Streek, The Castle, Luton - 6th February 2026

Punk theatre

The day of the Irish general election, Meryl Streek, outlined the issues of the day in his usual forceful manner. Good to see some of the Sinn Fein candidates attend and buy t shirts. Meryl gets theatre and brings this to create a show rather than a gig. Brilliant music. Brilliant performance. Unfortunately, if you were the young woman with the sparkly headband. I have just one question, why? We paid to see Meryl perform, who were you to join in, again and again. You cut short the floor show, then joined him in stage. In a word, DON'T!!!

Meryl Streek, Whelan's, Dublin - 29th November 2024

Meryl Streek is an Irish avant-garde punk artist from Dublin whose raw, uncompromising sound blends punk, folk and electronica with unflinching political commentary. With a voice that channels both fury and vulnerability, Meryl uses music as a platform for protest - confronting themes of injustice, grief and social inequality. His work draws from the realities of modern Ireland, pairing urgent lyrics with experimental production that’s as fearless as it is emotionally charged.

In 2022, Meryl released his debut album 796, a searing and deeply personal record that cemented his reputation as one of Ireland’s most daring new voices. Tracks such as “If This Is Life”, “Death to the Landlord”, “False Apologies” and “Yesterday” have resonated widely for their honesty and defiance, earning him a loyal following both at home and across the UK. On stage, his performances are intense and cathartic - a reflection of the same raw energy that fuels his recordings. Meryl Streek stands at the intersection of art and activism, turning pain and protest into powerful sound.
