Patrick Wolf, Lafayette, London - 24th April 2023
Patrick Wolf is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer known for his bold artistry, emotional intensity and genre-blurring creativity. Emerging in the early 2000s with a sound that fused folk, electronic, classical and avant-pop influences, he quickly became one of the most distinctive voices in UK alternative music. Albums such as Lycanthropy (2003) and Wind in the Wires (2005) showcased his poetic lyricism and experimental edge, while The Magic Position (2007) brought a brighter, more pop-leaning direction that expanded his audience and earned critical acclaim. Across his work, Wolf blends raw vulnerability with theatrical flair, crafting music that feels both deeply personal and strikingly imaginative.
On stage, Patrick Wolf is a magnetic and expressive performer, often surrounding himself with an eclectic array of instruments — from harps and violins to synths and electronics — to bring his richly layered arrangements to life. His later albums, including the emotionally charged The Bachelor (2009) and the romantic Lupercalia (2011), further cemented his reputation as a fearless, boundary-pushing artist with an unmistakable vision. After a period of musical retreat, Wolf returned with renewed purpose and creativity, continuing to captivate audiences with his storytelling, vulnerability and unmistakable voice.
