Rick Wakeman may be in his 70s, but he is still an exceptional talent and performer. The entire show was excellent and hugely entertaining, and his playing is at a level which many other musicians would only wish to reach. His band had a few changes to the last time I saw him in concert but they were all excellent musicians and perfect foils for Rick's playing. I hope Rick can continue touring for a good while yet - he put on a great show and is still making great music too, at a time when many of his peers are effectively their own Cover Bands!

Rick Wakeman - Six Wives + King Arthur, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool - 15th October 2025
Saw Rick back in 1974 performing King Arthur on ice. His playing was as faultless at the Palladium as it was back then. Thanks for a memorable evening.

Rick and his gifted band played two of the first vinyl albums I bought. Loved it and was taken right back. All wonderful musicians!

Rick Wakeman is an iconic British keyboardist, composer, and songwriter, best known for his virtuosic performances and groundbreaking work in progressive rock. Rising to prominence as a member of Yes in the early 1970s, Wakeman’s dazzling keyboard solos and orchestral arrangements became a defining feature of the band's sound on classic albums like Fragile (1971) and Close to the Edge (1972). His contributions to Tales from Topographic Oceans (1973) and Going for the One (1977) cemented his reputation as one of rock’s most innovative musicians.
Beyond Yes, Wakeman has enjoyed a prolific solo career, with concept albums such as The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1973), Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1974), and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (1975) showcasing his grand, theatrical compositions. His work spans rock, classical, and film scoring, and his charismatic stage presence has made him a beloved figure in music. Whether performing with Yes, as a solo artist, or collaborating with fellow legends, Rick Wakeman remains one of the most influential and technically gifted keyboardists in rock history.
