Fun night..

Robert Finley puts on a great show. Like an old fashioned soul singer. Wonderful voice and so did his daughter who sang a couple of songs. Well worth seeing when they next swing by…

Robert Finley, Union Chapel, London - 6th November 2024

Robert Finley is an American soul and blues singer whose remarkable story and timeless voice have made him one of the most inspiring figures in modern music. Born in 1954 in Bernice, Louisiana, Finley grew up singing gospel in church and playing guitar by ear, steeped in the sounds of Southern soul, blues, and R&B. After decades spent working as a carpenter and performing locally, he returned to music later in life, captivating audiences with a rich, lived-in voice that carries both grit and grace.

Discovered by the Music Maker Relief Foundation, Finley released his debut album Age Don’t Mean a Thing in 2016, a defiant statement that age and experience only deepen artistry. His collaboration with producer Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys on Goin’ Platinum! (2017) and Sharecropper’s Son (2021) brought him global acclaim, showcasing songs that blend vintage soul, swampy blues, and heartfelt storytelling drawn from his rural Louisiana upbringing. Finley’s latest album, Black Bayou (2023), continues this legacy — a celebration of resilience, community, and the enduring power of soul music.
