Royal Blood, Alexandra Palace, London - 21st November 2017

Royal Blood delivered

RB never fail to deliver an excellent set based upon the times I have seen them. Last night everything came together for another great show. The sound and lights were amazing but it all starts with the two out front and they were on magnificent form. The show seemed to pass quickly which is always a good sign.

Royal Blood, Alexandra Palace, London - 21st November 2017

Royal Blood are a rock duo from Worthing, who blend hard-rock, blues-rock and garage-rock, using only a heavily-distorted bass guitar and drums.

The duo, consisting of Mike Kerr on vocals and bass and Ben Thatcher on drums, achieve their signature massive, heavy sound through Kerr's unique bass playing style, which sees him using various effect pedals and amps to make his bass sound like an electric guitar and bass at the same time, creating a wall of noise.

Royal Blood's breakthrough debut self-titled album arrived in 2014, and received widespread critical acclaim and several awards, including Best British Group at the 2015 BRITs, and featured huge singles such as "Out of the Black" and "Little Monster". Their second consecutive UK number-one album, How Did We Get So Dark? (2017) built on their sound, and was preceded by singles "Lights Out" and "I Only Lie When I Love You".

Since then, the band have released Typhoons (2021) and Back To The Water Below (2023), continuing to evolve their sound whilst staying true to their sonic roots. Their formidable live performances have been solidified by joining rock heavyweights such as Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and Arctic Monkeys on tour, and high-profile festival sets at Glastonbury, Download, Reading and Leeds, and many more.
