The Slow Readers Club are an English rock band from Manchester, formed in 2009. The band consists of Aaron Starkie (vocals and keyboards), Kurtis Starkie (guitar and backing vocals), James Ryan (bass), and David Whitworth (drums). They evolved from their earlier project, Omerta, which disbanded around 2007. Their debut album, The Slow Readers Club, was released in 2011, featuring tracks like "Feet On Fire," "Sirens," and "Block Out The Sun." They followed with Cavalcade in 2015, continuing their exploration of indie and alternative sounds.

Their UK Top 20 album Build a Tower (2018) marked a significant milestone, reaching number 18 on the Albums Chart. Their subsequent releases, The Joy of the Return (2020) and 91 Days In Isolation (2020), demonstrated their ability to evolve, with the latter reflecting their experiences during the COVID-19 lockdown. In 2023, Knowledge Freedom Power reached number 29 on the UK Albums Chart. Known for their energetic live shows, The Slow Readers Club have built a dedicated fan base, regularly selling out venues like The Ritz and The Apollo in Manchester. Their music blends indie pop, rock, and electronic influences, drawing inspiration from bands like The Killers and Interpol.
