AJJ are an American folk-punk band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2004 by singer-guitarist Sean Bonnette and bassist Ben Gallaty, who have remained the band's constant core ever since. Originally known as Andrew Jackson Jihad, they built a fiercely loyal following on a scrappy, DIY spirit and a rare gift for turning dark, unflinching subject matter into wickedly catchy sing-alongs. Across albums such as Candy Cigarettes & Cap Guns (2005), People That Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World (2007) and the much-loved Knife Man (2011), Bonnette's sharp, self-deprecating storytelling became the band's calling card.
In 2016 the group officially shortened their name to AJJ — a nickname fans had already used for years — and kept evolving across records including The Bible 2 (2016), Good Luck Everybody (2020) and Disposable Everything (2023). Having toured widely across the United States, the UK and Europe, AJJ remain a warm, cathartic and genuinely joyful live act, turning their darkest songs into moments of real community.
