Nice to see someone doing something a bit different and that's what we got. He plays mainly solo but instead of a regular acoustic sound we get a bit of edge and distortion. maybe that sounds wrong but it works. Some great songs, excellent musicianship and amusing chat. Venue was also ideal - acoustics were excellent

Bernard Butler, SJE Arts, Oxford - 29th October 2024
Venue great. Detracting frequent toilet visiting by audience. A couple twice and they didn't look in the prostate age bracket either!! Seriously Bernard does an awesome reworking of his older material particular. Obviously he's a guitar maestro but his voice is epic. Strong and bluesy. I will Defo see him again 👍

Guitar ace and producer Bernard Butler is defined by his savage sound on the six-string, contrasting with his light vocals. Following his time with Suede, where he wrote the riffs for their seminal Mercury Prize-winning self-titled debut album in 1993 and Dog Man Star (1994), he teamed up with David McAlmont to form McAlmont & Butler before breaking out as a solo performer. His albums include People Move On (1998), Friends and Lovers (1999) and Good Grief (2024). More recently, he has worked with baroque-pop songwriter Catherine Anne Davies AKA The Anchoress.
