BLOODYWOOD , O2 Academy2 Islington, London - 27th July 2019
Bloodywood is an Indian metal band from New Delhi, known for blending heavy metal with traditional Indian folk music, creating a unique fusion of cultural sounds and modern aggression. Formed in 2016, the band initially started as a parody group doing metal covers of Bollywood songs but quickly evolved into a serious act with original music that tackles social and political issues such as mental health, corruption, and inequality.
The band’s lineup includes vocalist Jayant Bhadula, rapper Raoul Kerr, guitarist Karan Katiyar, and a variety of traditional instruments like the dhol and flute, adding a distinctive Indian flavor to their powerful metal sound. Their 2019 viral hit “Machi Bhasad” and debut album Rakshak (2022) brought them international attention for their hard-hitting music and socially conscious lyrics.
Bloodywood’s unique mix of metal and Indian folk, coupled with their energetic live performances, has made them a standout force in the global metal scene.
