Japanese experimental rock trio Boris have spent more than three decades pushing the boundaries of heavy music, forging a fearless sound that moves between sludge-metal, drone, noise, psychedelia and shoegaze with total freedom. Formed in Tokyo in 1992, the band – made up of Atsuo, Takeshi and Wata – has built a cult following across the globe through their relentless creativity, crushing live performances and refusal to be confined by genre.
With a vast catalogue spanning more than 20 studio albums, Boris has become one of the most influential and unpredictable forces in underground music. From the earth-shaking heaviness of Amplifier Worship (1998) and Heavy Rocks (2002) to the immersive drone of Flood (2000) and the kaleidoscopic experimentation of Pink (2005), their music constantly evolves while remaining unmistakably their own. Renowned for their overwhelming live shows and collaborations with artists including Sunn O))), Merzbow and Michio Kurihara, Boris continue to inspire generations of heavy, experimental and alternative musicians around the world.
