Buffalo Tom, The Fleece, Bristol - 4th December 2018

A so called Review

Sure look it - what is there to say? One of the very best nights I can remember....... 26 songs and as Bill was wont to opine on the night, when pressed for a highlight/favourite, I'd drop the irony and I'd say the first song , the next song and right up to the very close that's the kind of never say die attitude you get at a BT show. Can't wait for the new record - carry on lads......;-)

Buffalo Tom nail it in Islington

Great double set & passionate performance by one of the best alt rock bands of the last 25 years. Hearing "Let Me Come Over" in its entirity, played to an appreciative audience in a lovely venue, was a nostalgic rush.

Proved why they were the great band no one's ever heard of

Back in the 1990s this band live was a loud, tuneful, spirited and intelligent force. Nothing has changed. First set could have done with being louder, but with the greatest hits being rolled out, no one was complaining. Then after a short break, they came back and played seminal album Let Me Come On Over in its entirety. It was louder and the sound got everyone going and I visibly saw people get 20 years younger. Larry was a particular highlight, but there was so much to choose from. Three guys who make a lot of noise with a stack of Marshall amps and a frontman (Bill Janovitz) who has the kind of expressive voice that can rise above the tuneful cacophony. Bliss...

Buffalo Tom are an American alternative rock band formed in 1986 at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. The trio—Bill Janovitz (guitar, vocals), Chris Colbourn (bass, vocals) and Tom Maginnis (drums)—emerged from the same influential Massachusetts scene that produced bands such as Dinosaur Jr., The Lemonheads and Pixies, quickly earning recognition for their blend of bracing guitar crunch, melodic hooks and emotionally resonant songwriting.

After an early release on SST Records, the band gained wider international attention through Beggars Banquet Records with acclaimed albums including Let Me Come OverBig Red Letter Day and Sleepy Eyed, staples of 1990s alternative rock radio and MTV. Over the decades Buffalo Tom have continued to evolve while remaining true to their signature sound of poetic lyricism and powerful, anthemic guitar rock, securing their place as one of indie rock’s most enduring and respected bands.
