CARRTOONS is the project of New York multi-instrumentalist and producer Ben Carr — a trailblazer who puts the electric bass front and centre, blending jazz, funk, soul and hip-hop into a smooth yet gritty sound that defies easy categorisation. His unmistakable bass lines, lush grooves and retro-inspired production have earned him glowing praise from fans and peers alike, with notable co-signs from heavyweights such as DJ Jazzy Jeff and Pete Rock. Since emerging in 2017, CARRTOONS has steadily built a distinctive catalogue anchored by his albums Saturday Morning, Homegrown and Saturday Night — records that pair warm, soulful instrumentation with his signature groove and modern production touch.
His latest project, Space Cadet (2025), is a bold statement of ambition and collaboration, featuring a diverse cast of voices including artists such as Pale Jay, Wiki, and Rae Khalil.
