Cat Power is the stage name of American singer-songwriter Chan Marshall, whose career has defined a unique space between indie rock, folk, blues and soul. Emerging from the Atlanta underground scene in the early 1990s, she gained early acclaim for the stark intimacy of albums like Dear Sir (1995) and Myra Lee (1996). Her breakthrough, Moon Pix (1998), recorded with members of Dirty Three, showcased her ability to transform fragility into haunting beauty, while later records like The Greatest (2006) and Sun (2012) expanded her sound with lush instrumentation and soulful experimentation.
Known for her smoky, emotive voice and raw vulnerability, Marshall’s music carries a rare honesty that bridges vulnerability and strength.
