Jesca Hoop, Metronome Nottingham, Nottingham - 17th October 2023
Jesca was great as ever. Excellent sound quality in The Barbican Hall meant the vocal harmonies sounded absolutely fantastic. Some great audience banter as well. The Leisure Society kicked the evening off with an excellent set - I'd not really heard them before so was pleasantly surprised. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Jesca Hoop, Barbican Hall, London - 4th October 2019
My daughter and I thought you were amazing, so talented. Thank you for signing her CD and giving her a hug. You will have a fan base for a very long time if you show that much generosity. Thanks again Susan

Jesca Hoop, Chalk, Brighton - 2nd December 2017
Californian songwriter Jesca Hoop exemplifies the raw, honest singer-songwriter tradition, blending folk-rooted storytelling with a distinctive, unconventional voice. Raised in a Mormon community in Santa Rosa, she first developed her musical instincts through hymns and folk songs before beginning to write her own material as a teenager. Her early songwriting quickly drew attention, leading to a recording deal and the release of her debut album Kismet (2007), which introduced her thoughtful lyricism and singular melodic approach.
After relocating to the UK, Hoop signed to iconic indie label Sub Pop and continued to build a critically acclaimed catalogue defined by emotional depth and artistic independence. Albums including Hunting My Dress (2009), The House That Jack Built (2012), Memories Are Now (2017), Stonechild (2019), The Deconstruction Of Jack’s House (2021) and Order Of Romance (2022) showcase an artist unafraid to evolve while remaining rooted in honesty and expression. Across her work, Jesca Hoop balances vulnerability and strength, crafting songs that feel intimate, curious and quietly powerful.
