Fantastic 2 sets from Jim Bob and the band. Loved it and came away with a big smile! The venue wasn’t so great, unsure Dreamland has gig quality vibes, although the sound and security was good and the toilets and bar were fine. The audience chatted far too much and it was distracting for others at the gig and the band themselves.

Jim Bob, Dreamland, Margate - 26th April 2024
Jim Bob first rose to fame as one half of the cult indie punk duo Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine. Alongside Fruitbat, he became a defining voice of the early ’90s alternative scene, with gold-selling albums 30 Something (1991) and 1992 The Love Album (1992) propelling them into the mainstream. Their sharp wit and social commentary turned songs like “The Only Living Boy in New Cross” and “After the Watershed (Early Learning the Hard Way)” into anthems of the era, securing Carter USM a devoted following and a place in British music history.
Away from Carter USM, Jim Bob has built a prolific solo career that continues to showcase his knack for clever wordplay and heartfelt songwriting. His catalogue spans a wide range of albums and projects, with his most recent release Thanks for Reaching Out (2023) proving his sharp eye for modern life is as relevant as ever. Whether revisiting his Carter roots on stage or forging ahead with new material, Jim Bob remains a charismatic figure whose songs carry both bite and warmth.
