Never heard of these before this week as came to see Tom A Smith but totally blown away by one of the best live bands I’ve seen for a long time

Lottery Winners, Electric Bristol, Bristol - 19th November 2023
Thoroughly entertaining. Catchy tunes and a front man who really knows how to work and engage a crowd. Let’s hope they get the number one album they crave and deserve.

Lottery Winners are an indie-pop four-piece from Manchester whose irresistible blend of humour, heart and honesty has made them one of the most beloved bands on the UK scene. Formed in 2008, the group — Thom Rylance (vocals, guitar), Robert Lally (guitar, vocals), Katie Lloyd (bass, vocals) and Joe Singleton (drums) — balance sharp songwriting with an infectious, down-to-earth charm. Their sound fuses jangly guitars and anthemic choruses with northern wit and emotional candour, creating music that feels both deeply personal and universally uplifting.
Their self-titled album The Lottery Winners (2020) marked a turning point, followed swiftly by Sounds of Isolation (2020) and Something to Leave the House For (2021), each showcasing their growth and resilience through unpredictable times. With Anxiety Replacement Therapy (2023), the band struck a chord with fans and critics alike, tackling mental health and self-acceptance with honesty and humour — earning them their first UK No. 1 album. Known for their electric live shows and genuine connection with audiences, Lottery Winners have proved that big-hearted indie pop can still pack stadium-sized emotion.
