mark william lewis makes songs that seem to exist somewhere between a dream, a memory and a half-finished thought. Based in London, Lewis has developed a singular sound that pulls together elements of dream pop, ambient music, indie rock, slowcore, folk and experimental music, held together by his distinctive, sonorous voice.
His music is intimate without ever feeling entirely comfortable. Songs drift between tenderness and unease, exploring intimacy, alienation, connection and disconnection through sparse arrangements, strange textures and sharply observed lyrics.
Lewis began developing his solo work after performing in the London DIY and experimental scene, following time in the noise band Bad Food. His early releases Pleasure Is Everything and God Complex established the foundations of his sound, followed by his 2023 debut album Living. The record was largely self-produced, with Lewis performing almost all of the instruments himself.
In 2025, Lewis released his self-titled second album through A24 Music, alongside Sparkles 22–24, a collection spanning previously unreleased material. His work has since taken him from London's smaller experimental spaces to major international stages and festivals, building a reputation as one of the more distinctive voices in the city's current underground music scene.
