It's 30 years since since I last saw them. And their performance and their back-catalogue meant I saw a very different band. But just as great!

Mercury Rev, Islington Assembly Hall, London - 19th March 2025
Absolutely outstanding performance but sadly the merch stall had a sign saying signing after show, so a vinyl album was bought and no signatures were given. Don't have a sign saying there will be a signing if there isn't going to be one!!!

Mercury Rev, New Century, Manchester - 14th March 2025
Quite probably the best gig I have ever attended. I have been a fan of the band for about 25 years and this was the first opportunity I have ever had to see them. This was no disappointment. New songs and classics all absolutely delivered. Jonathan's voice perfect accompaniement to soaring music delivered by accomplished musicians. An almost spitlritual experience!

Mercury Rev, St. Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle Upon Tyne - 15th December 2018
Mercury Rev is an American alternative rock band known for their eclectic sound and genre-blending style. Formed in 1989 in Buffalo, New York, the band initially gained attention with their experimental approach to rock, incorporating elements of shoegaze, psychedelic rock, and indie music. Their sound is characterised by lush, atmospheric arrangements, surreal lyrics, and expansive instrumentation.
Mercury Rev's breakthrough album, Deserter’s Songs (1998), is considered a landmark in their career. The album, which blended orchestral arrangements with their signature ethereal sound, received critical acclaim and has since been regarded as one of the most influential albums of the 1990s. Songs like "Goddess on a Hiway" and "The Dark is Rising" helped the band achieve a devoted following, both in the US and internationally.
Over the years, the band has continued to evolve, with albums like All Is Dream (2001) and The Secret Migration (2005) further exploring their ambitious musical vision. Despite lineup changes, Mercury Rev remains a key figure in the indie and alternative scenes, known for their boundary-pushing music and captivating live performances. Their blend of dreamy atmospheres, experimental structures, and emotive melodies ensures their place as one of the most innovative acts of their generation.
