PASTEL, The Bunkhouse, Swansea - 27th September 2019

Pastel are a fast-rising British guitar band rooted in Manchester and Swansea, known for blending shoegaze atmosphere with swaggering indie rock energy. Fronted by cousins Jack and James Yates, their sound merges hazy, swirling guitars with big melodies and a confident, psychedelic edge. Early EP releases quickly made an impact, earning No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Official Vinyl Singles Chart and marking them out as one of the most exciting newcomers in the UK indie landscape. Their debut album Souls in Motion (2025), released via Spirit of Spike Island, builds on that momentum — a lush, emotional and expansive record that nods to British rock heritage while feeling fresh and fiercely modern.

On stage, Pastel are electrifying: loud, heartfelt and filled with the kind of raw energy that turns a gig into a communal experience. Their live reputation soared after supporting Liam Gallagher at his monumental Knebworth Park shows, an early career milestone that introduced them to tens of thousands of new listeners. With their hypnotic blend of shoegaze mood, indie grit and unfiltered emotion, Pastel continue to grow a devoted following and stand out as one of the most promising and dynamic young bands in the UK.
