Pokey LaFarge, Band on the Wall, Manchester - 24th April 2023
One of the best gigs we’ve ever been to. Pokey and his band were flawless and had a wonderful rapport with the crowd. So good we want to go again!! Highly recommended. Different, stylish, classy and wonderful performance. BRAVO!!

Pokey LaFarge, Cambridge Junction, Cambridge - 18th April 2023
Great opening 2 songs, lively, bouncy, strong grooves. The rest was also great, though spoilt for me by poor sound on Pokey’s mic/speaker, plus sound man seemed to take too long to get right level for the woman’s vocals. Minor quibbles, really.

Pokey LaFarge, KOKO, London - 13th March 2018
For years, his band got bigger and jazzier. Now Pokey is touring with a 3 piece backing band, his original guitarist and bassist, with the jazzier drummer added in 2015. His sound is now recognisably 1950's rock and roll, all electric echo. This new sound is great. It is focussed and less jammy and puts the onus on Pokey to deliver. And deliver he does. He does loads of songs with energy and drive. The band is terrific and the songs work perfectly, no matter when they were first recorded. Pokey is an exciting, strange performer, his Americana now Buddy Holly rock. He sings his heart out. Koko is an awful venue for comfort - no seats - but the sound, etc is great. Shame, it nearly ruined the gig.
