Reef, Rescue Rooms, Nottingham - 8th December 2018
Hailing from Glastonbury, Reef burst onto the UK rock scene in the early 90s with their raw energy, bluesy swagger, and anthemic songwriting. Fronted by the unmistakable gravel-toned voice of Gary Stringer, the band quickly made a name for themselves with their electrifying live shows and feel-good rock ‘n’ roll spirit.
Their 1995 debut album Replenish introduced them to the world, but it was Glow (1997) that catapulted them into the mainstream, hitting No.1 on the UK Albums Chart and delivering their biggest hit, "Place Your Hands." With its infectious riff and euphoric chorus, the track remains a staple of festival stages and indie club nights to this day.
Reef continued their success with albums like Rides (1999) and Getaway (2000), before taking a break in the mid-2000s. They made a triumphant return in 2010 and have since re-established themselves as one of Britain’s most beloved live acts, touring relentlessly and sharing the stage with rock legends.
With their latest album Shoot Me Your Ace (2022), produced by Duran Duran's Andy Taylor, Reef have proved they’re as vital as ever—delivering punchy, high-energy rock with the same passion that made them a household name.
