Skerryvore, Boiler Shop, Newcastle Upon Tyne - 18th November 2023
Fabulous gig from Skerryvore. They always deliver and the crowd were really up for it too. Venue also good. Love that it’s standing room downstairs as you have to dance to Skerryvore! Also great that you can drive to top of adjacent car park and walk straight into the venue.

Skerryvore is a renowned Scottish folk rock band that masterfully blends traditional Scottish music with contemporary influences, creating a unique and dynamic sound. Formed in 2004, the band takes its name from the Skerryvore lighthouse, a symbol of resilience and strength, much like the band’s approach to music.
With a lineup featuring a range of talented musicians, Skerryvore’s music combines elements of folk, rock, pop, and even touches of reggae and jazz, making their sound distinctively diverse and accessible to a wide audience. The band is known for its energetic live performances, with their use of bagpipes, fiddles, and accordions alongside guitars, drums, and bass creating a full-bodied, exhilarating experience.
Skerryvore’s songwriting often focuses on themes of Scottish heritage, unity, and adventure, reflecting both personal and cultural stories. Their albums, such as Chasing the Light and Evolver, have earned them critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, and they continue to push boundaries while staying rooted in their Scottish roots.
Having played at some of the most prestigious festivals and venues across the globe, Skerryvore has solidified its place as one of Scotland’s most exciting and innovative folk acts, making waves in both the folk and rock music scenes.
