Brilliant

The band was phenomenal and delivered exciting real intelligent music. The Robin is always let down by having no seats though, people who go to see these kind of bands are all in their 60s and 70s; we can't stand all night anymore.

Peerless band

After all these years the latest iteration of the band continue to produce music of the highest standards, both in terms of composition and performance. A great night at the Robin. Many congratulations to all concerned. Thankyou.

Soft Machine, The Robin, Wolverhampton - 20th February 2024

Soft Machine is a pioneering British rock band formed in 1966, known for their influential role in the development of progressive rock and jazz fusion. Emerging from the Canterbury scene, Soft Machine blended psychedelic rock with jazz improvisation, creating a complex, experimental sound that pushed musical boundaries. Their early albums, such as Volume Two and Third, are considered classics, showcasing their intricate compositions and innovative use of keyboards, saxophones, and unconventional time signatures.

Over the years, the band’s lineup has evolved, with key members like Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge, and Hugh Hopper contributing to its unique legacy. Soft Machine's impact on progressive music remains profound, inspiring countless artists across genres.
