The Doors Alive, The Flowerpot, Derby - 3rd February 2024
Right, let's get the negative stuff out of the way first: Some of the instrumentals went on FAR too long and I was really bored at times. In the middle of the set, they did a lot of spoken word/shouty/tuneless stuff where the keyboard player is just hitting random keys. They DIDN'T play "Roadhouse Blues!" I was waiting for that all evening! Sacrificing "Roadhouse Blues" for the tuneless crap in the middle of the set seems madness to me. Apart from that: All brilliant! The lead singer was "in character" the whole time and just brilliant and perfect! So authentic! He was like a cross between Jim Morrison and Val Kilmer! They were excellent musicians and note-perfect to the original music. I was particularly impressed by the keyboard player's ability to keep a consistent bass line with his left hand and hammer away with melodies with the right hand: I wish I could do that! I love how the keyboard player looks a bit like Ray Manzarek too! Another area for improvement is perhaps if the guitarist and drummer made an effort to look like their Doors counterparts. At one point, I thought I was in a club in the 1960s somewhere! It's brilliant, especially for what we paid, so just go and see them.

It was very relaxed and friendly - the performance was the centre and that was amazing - I normall see Eagles and Fleetwood mac tributes so this was new - I am waiting for the tickets to go on sale again already!!

Enjoyed the band immensely but the mid way break was way way too long! At least 30 minutes!! I don’t know whether the venue insist on it to boost the sale of booze? But it spoilt my evening!
