As a seasoned WP aficionado, it never ceases to surprise me at how apparently chilled these guys are when performing live gigs. I have seen them before at The Vat & Fiddle. Such a great venue, even with a sell out crowd, there was room to shake a leg.

The Wave Pictures - GAINED/LOST tour 2026, The Old Cold Store (next to the Vat & Fiddle), Nottingham - 28th February 2026
Poor signage at the venue meant we ended up in the wrong place for the support act, what we saw can only be described as interesting, however the evening improved greatly as the Wave Pics were excellent!

The Wave Pictures, South Street Arts Centre, Reading - 11th October 2025
Great show by a great band! Seen them many times and took a friend who hasn't seen much live music, he really enjoyed them too. Great tunes, excellent banter between David, Franic and Johnny. And what a guitarist! Very fine indeed.

The Wave Pictures, The Lexington, London - 21st December 2024
As ever, the Wave Pictures were an absolute joy. Fun interaction with the crowd, some great stage presence. I struggled to describe their music to colleagues when taking about pages for the evening. Eventually settled on Johnathon Richman covered by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Often playful tunes, delivered with power and virtuosity. (Sorry..... pretentious 'one hand clapping moment ') For once got to the (excellent indy) venue on time. Regret that this meant that I've missed out previously on the treat of the fabulously fun support act "I Am Ian'.

The Wave Pictures, Le Pub, Newport - 17th April 2024
The Wave Pictures were fantastic the support band My Name is Ian were also excellent. The sound engineer also did a fantastic job. The sound was perfect. The venue is my new favourite venue easily accessible just around the corner from the train station. Friendly clean and compact. Great beer, friendly staff and we really enjoyed the table football in the bar after the gig.

The Wave Pictures, Le Pub, Newport - 17th April 2024
The Wave Pictures are a much-loved cornerstone of the UK indie scene, celebrated for their witty lyrics, jangly guitars and heartfelt storytelling. Formed in the late 1990s, the band centres around the enduring partnership of Dave Tattersall (vocals, guitar), Franic Rozycki (bass) and Jonny Helm (drums). Their sound draws from classic British songwriting traditions — poetic, sharp and often joyfully unpolished — while maintaining a restless creativity that keeps each record feeling fresh. Albums like City Forgiveness (2013) and Brushes with Happiness (2018) showcase their gift for weaving humour, melancholy and vivid imagery into everyday tales.
Known for their prolific output and unfailingly engaging live shows, The Wave Pictures have long been favourites on the UK gig circuit, headlining venues such as The Garage and charming crowds at festivals like End of the Road. Their performances brim with warmth and spontaneity, often blurring the line between precision and playfulness. With a discography spanning decades and a loyal fanbase drawn to their sincerity and humour, The Wave Pictures remain a shining example of timeless British indie — a band defined by heart, craft and character.
