Tom A. Smith, Duffys Bar, Leicester - 16th November 2023
Tom A. Smith is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Sunderland whose fizzing mix of indie rock and alternative pop has made him one of the North East's most talked-about young talents. He played his first gig aged eight, supporting Detroit Social Club at Newcastle's The Cluny, and has barely paused since. Still in his early twenties, he has performed at Glastonbury, opened Leeds Festival, appeared at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and played BST Hyde Park after a personal invitation from Elton John. Along the way he has shared stages with Sam Fender, Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Lathums and Courteeners.
Signed to Fiction Records, Tom has built a reputation for emotive lyrics and big, hook-driven choruses on singles like "Wolves" and "Fashion". His second EP, Put On A Record Tommy, opens with BBC Radio 1 Introducing favourite "SFX" and features a guest turn from Rowetta on its theatrical title track, drawing listeners into the euphoric, slightly uneasy world of "Tommy's Dance Place". With strong national radio support and sold-out headline shows across the UK, he pairs youthful passion with real craft — and it all comes alive on stage.
