Cathode Ray Visuals
Really good gig from a band you're likely to be seeing more of. For such a low-key affair, the visuals were a cut above, syncing a telly clearly nicked from a nearby classroom with a projection screen behind all the way through the set. Sounds levels were remarkably well balanced throughout, although they need to make sure they don't get too PSB in the long run. Recommended

TVAM, The Lexington, London - 14th November 2018
TVAM is the stage name of British musician and producer Joe Oxley, who crafts immersive, genre-defying music from his base in Wigan. His sound combines hypnotic krautrock rhythms, fuzzy guitar lines and vintage synths to create a darkly atmospheric world that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. Oxley’s self-produced debut album Psychic Data (2018) introduced his unique aesthetic — a mix of pulsing electronics and warped VHS-era visuals — and earned critical praise for its originality and depth.
His follow-up record High Art Lite (2022) expanded the palette further, weaving in shimmering dream-pop and expansive textures while maintaining the driving energy that defines his work. Standout tracks such as “Porsche Majeure”, “Costasol”, “These Are Not Your Memories” and “Double Lucifer” have become fan favourites, amassing significant streams and cementing his reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative independent artists. On stage, TVAM delivers a powerful live experience, pairing analogue visuals with blistering sound — a transportive journey through noise, rhythm and emotion.
