Just gets better with age!

At 82, Charlie put more effort into this set than a lot of artists half his age. The rest of the band were really tight and looked as if they were really enjoying themselves. The band created a great atmosphere and really got the crowd involved. Loved every minute (and there were a lot of minutes to be fair).

UK Subs, The Arch, Brighton - 14th November 2024

UK Subs are a seminal British punk-rock band who emerged during the first wave of punk in 1976. Known for their fast-paced, energetic sound and politically charged lyrics, the band has become a cornerstone of the UK punk scene. Current members include Charlie Harper (lead vocals and harmonica), Alvin Gibbs (bass), Steve Straughan (guitar) and Stefan Häublein (drums). Their influential early albums, Another Kind of Blues (1979), Brand New Age (1980) and Diminished Responsibility (1981), remain classics of the genre.

Continuing to push boundaries over four decades later, UK Subs released their latest album, Reverse Engineering (2022), showcasing the band’s enduring energy and relevance. Renowned for their relentless live performances, they have toured extensively, inspiring generations of punk bands and maintaining a dedicated fanbase across the UK and beyond. Their music combines uncompromising attitude with memorable hooks, solidifying their status as punk icons.
