Incredible musicianship

Firmament were incredible live. Their EP that released the day before was played cover to cover, and they allowed the crowd to pick one of the covers they played, which was great. The room was packed out too, which was deserving of the performance they put on

Firmament , The Chapel at The Angel Microbrewery, Nottingham - 31st January 2026

Firmament are an alternative metal and progressive rock band from Canton, Ohio whose sound blends atmospheric heaviness with dynamic songwriting and expansive textures. Originally formed around (2014) as a four-piece ensemble by brothers Eric and Brandon Carbenia, the band evolved into a core duo over time while maintaining a broad, emotionally driven approach to heavy music. Their work sits between progressive metal, post-hardcore and modern rock, balancing weighty riffs, intricate rhythms and moments of melodic depth.

Across their releases, including the 2025 full-length A New World If You Can Take It and For Centuries Alive, Firmament explore contrasts of atmosphere and aggression, combining dense guitar passages with spacious arrangements that evoke both energy and introspection. Their music reflects a willingness to push beyond simple genre labels, crafting layered compositions that resonate with fans of progressive, post-metal and alternative heavy music alike. By blending technical ambition with a visceral, immersive feel, Firmament continue to forge a distinctive presence in the modern heavy landscape.
