Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, better known as OMD, are pioneers of British synth-pop whose inventive sound has shaped the landscape of electronic music for more than four decades. Formed by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys in the late 1970s, their fusion of experimental electronics and irresistible pop hooks created a style that felt futuristic yet full of heart. Early hits such as Enola Gay, Electricity and Souvenir remain touchstones of the era, combining melodic brilliance with an emotional depth that continues to resonate.
Over the years, OMD have released a catalogue of acclaimed albums including Architecture & Morality (1981), Dazzle Ships (1983), History of Modern (2010) and Bauhaus Staircase (2023). Their influence can be heard across generations of artists, from electronic innovators to modern indie acts inspired by their sleek production and poignant songwriting. On stage, the band deliver a masterclass in synth-driven energy, blending nostalgia and innovation in equal measure.
