Great gig

The Drill was a venue we'd never been to before but it's one we would definitely visit again as it's a smaller more intimate venue, and the staff were lovely. The support act Burr Island were an unexpected treat, we did not know anything about these guys but really enjoyed their set, even bought their cd afterwards. The Blow Monkeys certainly didn't disappoint either playing hit after hit. A band who sound as fresh today as they did back in the 80s. All in all a brilliant night out.

The Blow Monkeys, The Drill, Lincoln - 5th April 2024

The Blow Monkeys are a defining name in glamorous eighties pop, known for their sharp songwriting, stylish sound and irresistible blend of pop, soul and jazz influences. Formed in 1981, the band are led by singer and songwriter Robert Howard, better known as Dr. Robert, whose distinctive voice and lyrical flair helped shape their most enduring work. With a sound that captured the sophistication and energy of the era, The Blow Monkeys carved out a unique space in British pop.

They are best known for hits including “Digging Your Scene” and “It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way,” songs that remain touchstones of the decade’s alternative pop landscape. After an initial run that ended in 1990, the band reunited in 2007 and have continued to record and perform, expanding their catalogue while retaining the charisma and musical elegance that first defined them. Albums such as Journey to You (2021) reflect a band whose creativity and relevance endure well beyond their original era.
