Still one of the best live bands about, worth the 330 mile round journey.

The Dickies, The Hairy Dog, Derby - 19th July 2018
What can I say, they were supremely tight, looked like they were having as good a time as everyone else there and delivered a blistering set on point and full of their best! Got to go I've got a spitting headachi....

The Dickies, Lewes Con Club, Lewes - 23rd July 2017
Great band, great little venue. The small down sides however... a) car parking is a problem but some will get lucky.... and b) it was the last night of the tour and as a result, there wasn't a lot of merch left. But I still left very happy - and will look to return to the Con Club in the future. I look forward to the Dickies returning to the UK next year.

The Dickies are a legendary punk band from Los Angeles, formed in 1977 and celebrated for their breakneck energy, sharp humour and unmistakable melodic punch. As one of the earliest California punk groups to break through, they brought a playful, cartoonish edge to the scene — pairing frantic tempos and catchy hooks with witty, often surreal lyrics. Their debut releases The Incredible Shrinking Dickies (1979) and Dawn of the Dickies (1979) delivered cult classics including “Banana Splits (Tra La La Song)” and “Gigantor”, earning them a reputation as one of punk’s most joyful and eccentric forces.
On stage, The Dickies remain a riot of colour, speed and attitude, with charismatic frontman Leonard Graves Phillips leading the charge. Their shows are packed with humour, costume changes and a sense of manic fun that has kept fans returning for decades. Despite the passing of time — and beloved members — the band continue to tour, carrying the torch for their unique blend of melodic punk, hysteria and charm. As pioneers of West Coast punk with an unmistakable identity, The Dickies stand as enduring icons of the genre’s wild, witty and wonderfully weird side.
